Here are the basic steps to removing a standard Milgard window screen:
1. Use the finger pull or indentation along the bottom to get a handle on the screen.
2. Apply upward force. Milgard screens have a spring-loaded function, so you just need to press upward with enough force to squeeze the small springs at the top of the screen.
3. Push outward from the finger pull, while still applying some upward pressure. The bottom edge of the screen should release and move outward (to the outside).
4. Let the screen come out of its grooves and exit outward. Be careful not to drop the screen.
5. Bring the screen in through the window opening.
Now you’re ready to clean or replace your window screen if you wish. Afterward, putting your Milgard window screen back in place is just as easy as removing it. It’s basically the same process in reverse:
1. Pass the screen to the other side of the window and hold it by the finger pull.
2. Align the screen with its grooves and snap the top edge of the screen into place.
3. Pull the bottom edge of the screen into place. Jiggle it a little to make sure the screen has firmly attached.
