No matter what window sizes and types you have, Simonton windows and patio doors are made from premium vinyl that is easy to clean and maintain. Just don’t overdo it with harsh soaps or cleaning chemicals.
Tips for Cleaning Simonton Window Frames
Whether you have woodgrain laminate or matte vinyl windows, here’s how to clean Simonton frames for any window sizes.
- Use mild dish soap or hand soap diluted with water. Dampen a clean cloth, sponge, or squeegee sponge with the solution and gently wipe until any spots and stains are gone.
- Get a window cleaning tool to reach tall windows. Why risk falling off a ladder trying to clean the top edge of your window frames? For large window sizes or high locations, a basic sponge stick works wonders.
- Don’t use bleach, ammonia, or heavy-duty cleaning sprays. These aren’t necessary to clean Simonton vinyl windows and they might weaken caulk or strip the finish.
Tips for Cleaning Window Glass
If you’ve ever tried to clean glass with a multipurpose spray and a few paper towels, you know the results can be worse than what you started with. Get a squeegee to easily reach the top corners of all window sizes and follow these rules.
- Use a 30% vinegar solution for a cheap, natural, homemade window cleaner that doesn’t streak.
- Store-bought cleaners such as Windex® work very well; make sure it’s ammonia-free and do not use these on the frames.
- Change out your paper towels or rinse your cloth or sponge frequently. This is especially important for large window sizes or when cleaning all the windows in the home at once. Re-using a soiled towel or sponge will leave streaks and foggy spots.
- Wipe in multiple directions to further prevent vertical or horizontal streaks.
- Tilt out double-hung windows for easy cleaning. Unlock the window, open one sash partially, and you can tilt it out to clean the outside glass.
Finally, you can also use a mild soap solution to clean Simonton window screens. Take the screen outside or to a bathtub and scrub with a soft brush. Rinse or hose down the screen and allow to dry before replacing.
