- Our favorite is A-MAZ instead of using acidic cleaners When regular glass cleaners leave behind stains and residue, switch to a more intense cleaner designed to get rid of calcium, lime, and rust. Look for the product called A-MAZ or other similar products, as long as it specifically handles these substances. This is necessary for cleaning glass shower doors because calcium and lime are left behind by tap water.
- You can make your own simple cleaner! If you don’t want to shop for new cleaning products, you can make a shower cleaner out of items you probably already have. Just add a spoonful or two of dish soap into a spray bottle filled with household vinegar, shake to combine, and spray away.
Stick with non-scratch sponges. Clean with gentle rags or sponges labeled non-scratch. Not only should you avoid making visible scratches in the glass, but tiny little scratches will create places for more scum and grime deposits.- Squeegee the door regularly. In between cleaning glass shower doors, you can simply squeegee the glass after showering to prevent much of the build-up. Squeegee the doors from top to bottom after every shower or as often as you like.
- Protective coatings can make cleaning easier. You can also make cleaning glass shower doors much easier and less frequent by installing glass with a protective coating, or add one to your existing doors. These nonstick coatings make it much more difficult for dirt and grim to get stuck. Contact us if you are interested in having a protective coating applied to your glass shower doors.
Sometimes the design and fixtures make cleaning glass shower doors more difficult, too. Think about frameless shower doors and other sleek styles that feature fewer nooks and crannies were dirt builds up.
